LNP Candidate for Pine Rivers, Seath Holswich and Trevor Ruthenberg, LNP Candidate for Kallangur are thanking local residents for their support of the Super Special Saturday “buy local” campaign.
Feedback from several business owners along Gympie Rd in Lawnton indicates that locals responded positively to the plea to support local businesses. Mr Holswich, Mr Ruthenberg and Mr Peter Dutton MP, Federal Member for Dickson, spent time talking with business owners on Saturday morning.
“Business owners were pleased to see the support from local residents as they took up the challenge of supporting local businesses,” Mr Ruthenberg said. “These local businesses are the economic backbone of our community and need everyone’s support now more than ever.”
Whilst Saturday’s response was encouraging, the LNP candidates are urging locals to keep supporting local businesses.
“It is going to take more than a one-off event to keep local businesses open beyond the next 18 months,” Mr Holswich said. “We need local residents to keep spending their shopping dollar locally week after week to ensure they survive until the AJ Wyllie Bridge work is complete.”
Mr Ruthenberg and Mr Holswich remain frustrated at the lack of practical support being provided by local State Labor Members of Parliament.
“It continues to disappoint local business owners that they aren’t being listened to by their elected State representatives and that their cries for support are falling on deaf ears,” Mr Ruthenberg said.
“As part of the CanDo LNP team, we will continue to stand up for local businesses and will continue to provide practical support to help them through the next 18 months or more until the AJ Wyllie Bridge is rebuilt,” Mr Holswich said.
