News of $1.9m in funding for new cycle lanes along David Low Way from Williams Street in Coolum to Emu Mountain Road has been welcomed by State MP Fiona Simpson however she has called on the State Government not to delay.
Although the State Government has announced funding for this project, Ms Simpson is concerned that there is no indication of when the construction of cycle facilities is due to begin.
“I welcome the news that money is going to be spent in my electorate,” Ms Simpson said.
“But I’m calling on the Transport Minister to give a clear commitment about timing.”
“Cyclists have been waiting over two years for work to begin on the $3m Sunshine Motorway Cycle Link Project – linking the Motorway Bridge to Pacific Paradise – and the latest news from the Minister is that it will begin later in the year.
“We want to make sure they get on with it soon and that the new works near Coolum are also progressed publicly as soon as possible,” Ms Simpson said.
