The Liberal National Party’s Super Tax Campaign Bus recently received the same touch up as the Labor Party. The 40ft bus displayed a message calling on people to help stop Kevin Rudd’s Tax Attack on Queensland. “The only change to the bus has been to replace Rudd with Gillard,” LNP State Director Michael O’Dwyer said, “much the way the Labor Party has done.”
“There may be a new leader of the Labor Party, but it’s the same dud policies and the same big tax.
“By slapping an added tax burden on the mining sector, the Rudd Government will destroy the one industry that has single-handedly helped Australia navigate the global financial crisis and the industry that kept Australia afloat during the recession of the 1990s.
“Make no mistake, if the mining industry leaves Queensland or cancels projects, life gets tougher for everyone,” he said, “without these projects, groceries are more expensive, electricity costs go up and Queenslanders will be hit hard.
“A super-tax on mining is just a great big new tax that will risk future investment and send Australian jobs overseas,” he said, “Queenslanders’ hip pockets will be hit hard.
“The mining sector will continue to underwrite Australia’s economy for decades to come, yet the Gillard Labor Government is determined to kill the golden goose.
“Queensland deserves a Government that will work to make life affordable.
“We deserve leaders that take our prosperity seriously and help us make ends meet.”
The bus has travelled over 6000 kilometres and will continue touring Queensland until the federal election.
