Queensland Rail’s decision to run a three carriage, all stations, peak hour service on the Caboolture line is angering Pine Rivers commuters, LNP Candidate for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, said today.
The service, which originates from Caboolture at 6:13am, stops at all stations to Central and for the first two days of the new timetable has been a three carriage service.
“To hear an announcement from the Station Master at Lawnton Station that this service was nearing capacity and commuters should consider waiting for the next train, 12 minutes later, is completely unacceptable,” Mr Holswich said. “I fear that by the time this service reaches Strathpine and beyond, commuters will have no choice but to wait for the next service.”
Mr Holswich spent this morning talking with peak hour commuters outside Lawnton Station. “After the first day of the new timetable, commuters are angry. They are angry that their express services have been taken away. They are angry that their journey to the City now takes longer. Add to this a scheduling decision to operate a 3 carriage all stations train from Caboolture and commuters have every right to be upset.”
Mr Holswich is calling on the State Government and Queensland Rail to immediately change the 6:13am from Caboolture to a six carriage train to alleviate the congestion.
“I would suggest that the Transport Minister and the Labor Member for Pine Rivers take some time to listen to commuters concerns, just as I have been doing since this new timetable commenced.”
“It’s not too late for this out of touch Labor government to display some common sense and ease the inconvenience being caused by these botched timetable changes,” Mr Holswich said.
