Bailey’s billion-dollar budget blowout bombshell

22 November 2023

Minister must be sacked to stop the blowouts

For Minister Mark Bailey to suggest billions of dollars in budget blowouts “don’t matter” to Queenslanders is an absolute disgrace.

Mark Bailey’s nonchalance about Queenslanders’ hard-earned taxpayer dollars being wasted in project overruns proves just how out of touch the Palaszczuk Labor Government is.

Trying to link to a Presidential assassination is even worse.

There is clearly no respect for Queenslanders or their money, it’s clear Labor has the wrong priorities.

For a Minister to think he is above accountability to the Queenslanders who elect him and above accountability to the taxpayers who fund the projects he oversees, shows he is not fit to be a Minister.

Billions of dollars do matter to Queenslanders.

To Queenslanders who are sleeping in cars, because the State Government has failed to fund social housing – billions of dollars matter.

To the Queenslanders who can’t hug their loved one tonight, because they’ve died waiting for an ambulance in an under-resourced health system – billions of dollars matter.

To the Queenslanders who are sitting in traffic because their road upgrade has been cut because of cost blowouts on other projects – billions of dollars matter.

Mark Bailey lied about his $2.4 billion trains blowout, he hid a multi-billion-dollar blowout on the Gold Coast Faster Rail project and he tried to distract from a $500 million dollar blowout on the Varsity Lakes to Tugun M1 upgrade.

Mark Bailey cannot be trusted to tell Queenslanders the truth about the issues that matter to them.

The only way to start reining in Labor’s Budget Blowouts is to sack Mark Bailey.

Queenslanders deserve better than to be left paying the price of Labor’s chaos and crisis.

Only the LNP has the Right Priorities for Queensland’s Future, including delivering infrastructure on-time and on-budget.
