David Crisafulli is your CanDo Candidate for Mundingburra.
David is a born and raised North Queenslander and has been a Townsville Councillor since 2004. He was elected to Council as the first non-Labor Councillor in almost half a decade. During his first term on Council, David exposed some questionable practices in the former administration as well as fighting hard for his ward which included Cranbrook, Douglas and Lavarack Barracks.
Prior to being elected to Council, David studied journalism at James Cook University from 1997. After completing his university degree he started work as a journalist with WIN Television. By 2002 he was appointed as News Director for Townsville, where he worked until 2003. During this time he also worked as a Townsville based correspondent for The Australian and Sunday Mail newspapers, did weekly work for DMG radio as a newsreader, and lectured at James Cook University. In June 2003, he began work as a Townsville based advisor for the Australian Government.
David and his wife Tegan have operated small businesses in the region. Married since 2002, they welcomed their first child, Georgia, in 2005, and their second, Nicola, in 2007.
David’s hobbies include keeping fit, supporting Townsville’s myriad of sporting teams and walking along the Ross River with his family.
A strong fighter for his community, David has made the decision to leave local government to secure a fair deal for Townsville in key areas like roads and law and order.
